PACIFIC ISLAND BATTLEGROUNDS OF WWII THEN AND NOW
Book Type: C, O By Earl Hinz. This book highlights, with perhaps the best collection of action photos I have seen, decisive WWII military operations in the islands of Polynesia, Melanesia, and Micronesia and describes the changes that have occurred in those islands since the end of the war. Over 199 b/w and color photos and 15 maps show the contrast between actual scenes of battle and island life today. As mentioned, other than Hickey’s book Warpath Across the Pacifi the photos in this book are tough to beat. The author was a U.S. Marine during WWII later during the war being commissioned in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Since his retirement he has sailed all over the Pacific and visited many of the battlegrounds. 104 pp.
