FRITZ WITT: DECISIONS AND FATE

  • Price: $89.00

Book Type: C,O, very small print run

by Peter Mooney, 308 gloss pages,160 documents, 205 photos

This book details the history of Fritz Witt whose life and career came to an end on the 14th of June 1944, in Normandy. At that point he held the rank of SS-Brigadeführer und Generalmajor der Waffen-SS, alongside wearing the Knight's Cross with Oakleaves; his final role was as the commander of the 12. SS-Panzer Division Hitlerjugend.

This book traces his paramilitary, then military career from 1931 through to 1944, as well as touching on his legacy. His story is shown through 160 documents and 205 photos, including imagery of surviving artefacts connected to his story.

His history has been charted in this book with the direct input of those that served under his various commands, which include his Adjutant, First Staff Officer, Regimental Commander, Platoon Commanders, NCOs and Grenadiers. With their help, we detail how his career developed, the challenges he faced and the accomplishments he achieved, all of which helped to create his reputation, as well as how his leadership played a part in forging the reputation of the Waffen-SS during the Second World War.

This project is aimed at providing as comprehensive an insight as possible into this soldier, one who left his mark on the men that served with him, and one who paid the ultimate price for his country during the Third Reich era.
