This is the second volume of the complete history of JG 3, and begins with its formation in early 1940 and the subsequent service of the newly formed Gruppe in the Campaign in the West from 1940-1941, and then a tour in Russia, followed by a short spell in the Mediterranean theatre of war. The group went back to the East and West and in 1944 re-equipped with the Me-262 and became part of the first jet fighter Geschwader of the Luftwaffe. Volume two then takes up the history of the newly formed II./JH 3, a former bomber unit that was transformed into a fighter Gruppe at then end of 1944, and transferred to the east in order to counter the massive Soviet offensive where it was hopelessly outnumbered. Over 350 b/w photos. 400 pp.
